Twelve days we know by heart

These are the prefectures we are asked for most, each written out hour by hour so you know exactly what the day is. The other thirty-five are arranged to order — see the full list below.

Everywhere else, arranged to order

Gold means there is a full itinerary on this site. Everything in plain text we still cover — tell us the prefecture and we will write the day for you before you arrive.

Days built around one idea

Not a region — a reason. The Tokyo classic in a single day, the real history behind the shogun, three days at the dojo with a bow, and the training almost nobody is allowed to try.

Three ways to travel with us

Every one of them is one private group per day, priced for the group rather than per head. The only question is whether you need the car — and on some days you genuinely do not. We will tell you which.

Master Ken

Kensuke Ueoka — Master Ken
  • Kyudo — 4th dan
  • Japanese calligraphy — 6th dan, 30 years
  • Yabusame — horseback archery
  • Yoga instructor, RYT200
  • Triathlete
  • Born and living in Aichi

Founder, BUSHIDO LLC · Representative, Nagoya Inbound Summit

Kensuke Ueoka — Master Ken — was born in Aichi to a mother who holds the rank of kyoshi in kyudo, and he had a bow in his hands before he had opinions about it. Forty years later he holds 4th dan in kyudo and 6th dan in calligraphy, rides yabusame — archery from a galloping horse — and runs BUSHIDO LLC from the province that produced the three warlords who unified Japan.

He is also the representative of the Nagoya Inbound Summit, a director of a care company running a group home for adults with disabilities, and a triathlete who gets up early enough to be irritating. The range is not scattered: kyudo taught him the axis, calligraphy taught him concentration, and the care work taught him what it means for a person to live with dignity. He guides the way he was taught to shoot — quietly, without exaggeration, with complete attention on the person in front of him.

Master Ken personally guides six days a month and no more — those are the A Day with Master Ken dates. Every other day is led by a BUSHIDO Certified Guide he has trained and signed off himself. If you want Ken specifically, say so on the form and we will tell you honestly which dates are still his.

BUSHIDO is not tourism. It is transformation.

The other guides, and how they get here

Ken cannot be in six prefectures at once, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. So every other guide who works under the BUSHIDO name has been through the same gate.

01

Two days of training

The philosophy first — rei, harmony, the reason a warrior class built a tea ceremony — then itinerary craft, pacing, and the things we do not do.

02

A day shadowed by Ken

The first guided day is run with Ken in the car. Nobody is certified on paper alone.

03

Rated by every guest

Five stars and a written comment after each day. Two days below 4.5 and the guide retrains before working again.

04

Re-certified yearly

Standards drift quietly. We check them on purpose.

It is the reason we can say yes to Hokkaido and Fukuoka in the same week without the day getting thinner.

Everything people ask first

For the whole group, for the whole day — up to 6 guests. BUSHIDO Private at ¥300,000 works out at roughly ¥50,000 each with six of you. It never changes based on how many of you there are.

The car. BUSHIDO Guide gives you your own guide for the day and you travel by train, on foot and by taxi — perfect in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. BUSHIDO Private adds a private Alphard and driver, which is what makes Shirakawa-go, Kanazawa, Nagano, Hokkaido and Okinawa work at all. Each destination page tells you honestly which one we would pick.

On the six days a month he guides personally, yes — that is the ¥500,000 plan and it books out early. Every other day is led by a BUSHIDO Certified Guide he has trained and shadowed himself. Ask on the form and we will tell you straight which dates are still his.

All 47. Twelve have a written itinerary on this site because they are the ones we are asked for most; every other prefecture is arranged to order. Tell us where you want to go and we will build the day around it.

A Toyota Alphard — Japan’s executive people-mover. Captain’s chairs, generous luggage space, and quiet enough to sleep on a long transfer. For groups of seven or more we run two vehicles, quoted together.

Either Kensuke Ueoka himself or a BUSHIDO guide he has trained, always English-speaking. Vehicles are operated through licensed chartered-hire operators, so your day is properly insured and properly legal.

Often yes — Kyoto and Nara, or Gifu and Ishikawa, sit comfortably together. Tokyo and Kyoto in one day does not, and we will tell you so rather than sell you a day in the car.

Your guide flies in and an identical Alphard is chartered locally. The day rate is the same ¥300,000; the flight is quoted separately at cost, with nothing added on top.

All routinely handled — halal in particular is something we have built real relationships around. Tell us on the form and we will book accordingly rather than improvise on the day.

Reservations, the travel contract and payment are handled by our licensed partner Rollei Co., Ltd. (Aichi Registered Travel Agency No. 3-1516). They send the confirmation and the cancellation terms in writing before anything is charged.

Child and booster seats at no charge, just tell us the ages. For wheelchair access let us know early — we can arrange a suitable vehicle, but it needs a little more notice than the Alphard.
